With the onset of winter, the danger of many diseases is also arising, in view of which Delhi Municipal Corporation is in alert mode. To deal with diseases like dengue and malaria, MCD Mayor Shelly Oberoi on Monday launched drone technology to spray anti-mosquito medicine in waterlogged areas.
Spraying medicine with the help of drone
After the beginning, even today, medicines were sprayed with the help of drones in many areas of Narela, Delhi, so that diseases could be eradicated from their roots. Ranikheda in Narela zone became the first place where insecticide spraying to prevent mosquito-borne diseases like dengue, malaria and chikungunya was done with the help of drones, especially for the first time in Delhi.
Drone campaign is being conducted in those identified areas where it is difficult for MCD employees to reach due to severe waterlogging or any other problem. With the help of drone technology, spraying can be done at more places, which saves man power and resources.
Due to waterlogging, diseases are spreading throughout Delhi
This initiative has been taken in response to record-breaking rainfall this year, which had caused waterlogging across Delhi and increased the risk of mosquito-borne diseases. There are many places in Delhi where there is no proper drainage and due to waterlogging for a long time, there is a fear of diseases developing here. Therefore, with the help of drones, pesticides are now reaching such challenging places with the help of drones which can eradicate diseases in time. Regarding the drone campaign, MCD Mayor Shelly Oberoi said that drone spraying will continue in Ranikheda in the next 4-5 days, which will cover an estimated 15 hectare area.
Due to the ongoing spraying with the help of drone campaign, the time and energy of the sanitation workers is being saved. While giving information to the media, the Mayor also said that now the salaries are being paid to the sanitation workers in the first week of every month. Also, more than 10,000 sanitation workers have been made permanent.
